WHELTONarchitecture is an innovative architectural design practice based in Portland, Oregon. Current projects range from small-scale, highly detailed residential additions to larger design investigations that move across the scales of architecture, landscape, infrastructure and urban design. WHELTONarchitecture frequently collaborates across disciplines in competitions that provide unique opportunities for research, design and exchange. The most recent collaboration with team másTransit won the Professional Category of the New Infrastructure competition organized by SCI-ARC. In 2010, WHELTONarchitecture won the competition to design the David Campbell Memorial commemorating the loss of Portland firefighters. The project's groundbreaking ceremony is planned for the 100 year anniversary of Fire Chief David Campbell's death in June of 2011. WHELTONarchitecture is a Tier-1 Emerging Small Business in the State of Oregon.
Aaron Whelton is a Registered Architect in Oregon and a LEED Accredited Professional. Prior to founding WHELTONarchitecture, Aaron worked on numerous award-winning projects in the offices of Daly Genik and the Office of Hadley + Peter Arnold in Los Angeles as well as Thomas Phifer and Partners in New York City. Aaron is a faculty member at Portland State University and previously taught at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. He holds a Master of Architecture from University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky.
